Nowadays we can see many Baccarat variations. All of them have appeared thanks to the original Baccara game in Italy, with the name meaning Zero. In our page dedicated to baccarat history you can read about the interesting origins of this game. While in Europe we see that European Baccarat stands out as the most played variation, in France we usually see gamblers playing Chemin de Fer.

Another variation that is popular in North America is American Baccarat. In both regions you can come across other variations too as we are faced with a lot of culture mixes. What you are going to find will mostly depend on the location where you want to play. Every single casino has its own operational rules.

We have to suggest that you look for the exact baccarat variation that you are comfortable with before you start playing. This will reduce any type of confusion that you might be faced with.

Similar to Chemin de Fer in this baccarat variation a player can draw up to 3 cards when a five is held.

The difference we see when comparing with American Baccarat is that in the latter variation you are basically forced to draw when you have less or equal to a five.

European Baccarat shows the house offering funding to a banker’s hand. There is a cap put on the amount that can be bet. As an example, when the house offers a banker $1000 and one player puts a $500 bet, then followed by another player with an equal bet amount, no more funding of money can be done by other players. Also, when thinking about European versions, one player can basically cover the entire bet of the bank. When someone wants to do this he will say “Banco”, which means that the entire bet belongs to that person. Nobody else can bet because the money of the banker is completely claimed.

You should also know that European Baccarat is also different from American Baccarat as a casino will take 5% of all the winnings that a player gains if there is a bet that the bank wins.
